 Stephen is the MP for the Stevenage constituency and was elected in May 2010. He is married to Emma, a primary school teacher, who continues to play a full part in Stephen's campaigns.
Before being elected as an MP, Stephen was Director of Membership for British American Business, the leading Transatlantic Business organisation. He has worked closely with a variety of companies ranging from global organisations to small local businesses. He has vast experience of campaigning on a range of issues and winning elections at both a local and national level. Stephen began his political career in 1999 in Warrington, managing a range of Local Council, Parliamentary and European election campaigns before relocating to Hertfordshire in late 2001.
Stephen is a trustee of The Living Room, a local charity offering a wide range of free addiction treatment services, a volunteer speaker for Asthma UK, an avid reader and enjoys following Stevenage Football Club. He has an MSc in Technology Management and a BA(Hons) in History.
Stephen firmly believes the key to making a real difference is listening to local people and working hard to improve the local community in which we all live and work. He continues to work on a variety of local issue campaigns and is committed to driving forward the regeneration of Stevenage town centre with the support of business and the community. |
